Foote’s Career High Lifts Lions Past Oglethorpe 74-58

DEMOREST, Ga. – Behind a career-high 24 points from JORDAN FOOTE, the Piedmont College men's basketball team took down Oglethorpe, 74-58, on Tuesday night at Cave Arena.
 
The Lions (5-1) used a 12-2 run over the final 3:43 of the first half to take a double-digit lead into the locker room and held a comfortable lead throughout the second half to remain unbeaten at home.
 
Piedmont led through the early minutes before Oglethorpe (3-4) took a 21-15 lead thanks to an 8-0 run. Following a PC timeout, the Lions responded with a 7-0 run of their own, capped by a three-pointer by JUSTIN QUICK.
 
After Foote delivered a layup with 6:52 left in the first half, Piedmont took a 27-24 lead and never trailed the rest of the way.
 
Returning to the locker room after the big run to end the first half, Piedmont continued to extend its lead as Foote's three-pointer pushed the Lions lead to 15. 
 
The Lions led by as many as 19 points at 66-47 with 7:59 remaining and led by double-digits the rest of the way as the Stormy Petrels were unable to rally.
 
Up next, the Lions will take to the road to battle No. 2 Emory this Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.
 
TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont used a 12-2 run over the final four minutes of the first half to build a 43-32 lead before halftime.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- JORDAN FOOTE continued his outstanding campaign, dropping a career-high 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
- JUSTIN QUICK (14 points) and ORRY CLEMENTS-OWENS (nine points) each knocked down three three-pointers.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
- The Lions' stifling defense held Oglethorpe to 6-of-31 from beyond the arc.
