Lions Drop Road Contest 74-58 at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team dropped its first contest of the season Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Sewanee 74-58.

The game was tied at eight at the first media timeout and a JORDAN FOOTE free throw put Piedmont up 9-8, but that was the last lead the Lions would manage. Sewanee held Piedmont scoreless for over seven minutes in the first half to build a 20-11 lead with 6:45 to go till the half.

The Lions cut the lead to four on an EVAN EASTON 3-pointer with just under 3:00 till halftime but trailed 32-22 at the break.

In the second half, Piedmont cut the lead to two on a MILES RILEY layup making it 40-38 but from that point, Sewanee outscored Piedmont 16-3 to build a 56-43 lead and led by as many as 29 points with 5:00 to go.

Piedmont continued to fight and chip away at the lead scoring 13 unanswered to end the game and holding the Tigers scoreless over the last five minutes.

The Lions return to the court a week from Tuesday on December 3rd to face Oglethorpe inside Cave Arena.

TURNING POINT:
--The Tigers used a 16-3 run to build a 56-43 lead and maintained the lead throughout the second half.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--JUSTIN QUICK led Piedmont with 11 points including three 3-pointers.
--A pair of Tigers' players scored 20+ with a total of three players scoring in double-figures.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--The Tigers banked 15 3-pointers while holding Piedmont to just eight made shots from beyond the arc.
