TOCCOA, Ga. – The Piedmont College volleyball team suffered a five-set loss at the hands of Toccoa Falls on Wednesday night in Toccoa, Georgia.

Despite rallying back from an 0-2 deficit to send the match to a fifth set, the Lady Lions (8-14) fell behind, 10-5, in the fifth set and were unable to catch up as the Screaming Eagles (14-7) took the set, 15-12, and the match, 3-2.

ALINA ROBERTS led the Lady Lions with 14 kills while
LAINEY CHOINIERE paced the team with 31 digs.

The first set was closely contested all the way until the end. Piedmont was able to gain some separation late, building a 22-18 lead after an
ALI WILKINS service ace. However, Toccoa Falls then reeled off five points in a row to take a 23-22 lead and eventually took the set, 25-23.

Flipping the script from the first set, PC was able to reel off five points in a row to turn a 20-18 deficit into a 23-20 lead in the second set. Unfortunately, the Screaming Eagles survived three set points and took the set, 26-24, to take a 2-0 lead.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Lady Lions rallied with a dominant third set victory, holding Toccoa Falls to a -.078 hitting percentage and avoiding the sweep with a 25-15 set three win.

The momentum carried over to the fourth for Piedmont, as the team raced out to a quick 8-2 advantage. Toccoa Falls; late rally fell short and
SARA DICARLO's ace pushed the match to a fifth set.

The Screaming Eagles took back the momentum by winning five of the first six points of the deciding set. PC was able to close the gap to 13-11, but never were able to get all the way back, as Toccoa Falls closed out the set by a 15-12 margin.

Up next, the Lady Lions return to conference play, as they travel to Brevard to take on LaGrange and Huntingdon on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 12 and 2 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- After the Lady Lions had taken two sets in a row to stave off defeat, Toccoa Falls answered with a strong start to the fifth set, never trailing on its way to a 15-12 victory.

DESTINEE JACKSON was one of three Lady Lions in double figures in kills, producing 11 for the match.
