Records: Piedmont, 7-6-2 (5-5-2 USA South); Averett, 5-10-1 (3-7-1 USA South)

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's soccer team scored three times in the final 16 minutes to stun visiting Averett, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Walker Athletic Complex.

Trailing 2-0 with 16 minutes remaining, the Lions (7-6-2, 5-5-2 USA South) cut their deficit to a single goal after a LULE TEKILEMARIAM strike found the back of the net. Then, with under five minutes to play, IAN ADDISON cleaned up a corner kick to tie the score at 2-2 before MALAMIN JALLOW weaved through multiple defenders and struck home the game-winner less than a minute later.

The win gives PC its first three-game winning streak of the season.

Early on in the first half, Piedmont controlled possession, taking 12 of the first 14 shots of the contest. However, the Cougars (5-10-1, 3-7-1 USA South) struck first as Johnny Kummander beat the PC back line to put the Lions in a 1-0 hole at halftime.

Both teams were held off the scoreboard until the 71st minute, when Geovany Rodriguez found the back of the net to extend Averett's lead to 2-0.

Desperately needing some momentum, Piedmont put its first goal on the board minutes later on Tekilemariam's first goal of the season.

Still trailing by a goal heading into the final minutes, the Lions equalized in the 86th minute on Addison's second goal in as many games.

Then, on PC's next possession, Jallow cut through multiple defenders, and beat the keeper to the far post to complete the comeback for the Lions.

Up next, the Lions remain at home as they step out of conference to host Sewanee on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.
