Records: Piedmont, 6-6-2 (4-5-2 USA South); Mary Baldwin, 7-9 (4-7 USA South)

DEMOREST, Ga. – On a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon in Demorest, Georgia, the Piedmont College men's soccer team emerged with a 2-1 overtime victory over Mary Baldwin.

After falling behind 1-0 midway through the second half, the Lions (6-6-2, 4-5-2 USA South) equalized less than a minute later and won in overtime on IAN ADDISON's header off a JOSE LINARES free kick.

The win marks Piedmont's first overtime victory this season.

In the rainy conditions, neither side was able to generate much offense in the first half, as the Lions outshot the Fighting Squirrels (7-9, 4-7 USA South), 3-2, in the first 45 minutes.

The offense opened up in the second, with Mary Baldwin striking first as Alejandro Aragon's cross found Brandon John, who finished to the opposite side of the net to put PC down 1-0 in the 63rd minute.

However, the Lions responded immediately, with a handball in the box earning Linares a penalty kick, which he converted to knot the score up at 1-1 in the 64th minute.

Each side had a few chances late in the second half, but were unable to come up with a goal, pushing the game to overtime.

In the fifth minute of the first overtime period, Linares drew a foul just outside the box, earning a free kick from a dangerous position. Once again, his free kick was on the money, finding the head of the 6-5 Addison, who headed it home for his first goal of the season.

Up next, the Lions will look to capitalize on the momentum, as they host Averett tomorrow at 1 p.m.
