BREVARD, N.C. – In a career-best outing for several Lady Lions, the Piedmont College volleyball team earned a 3-1 win in conference play over Brevard on the road Wednesday.
AUBREE YANCEY led the team with a career-high 13 kills, nearly doubling her best mark from her freshman campaign, while
ALI WILKINS totaled 44 assists for another career-best mark.
Piedmont took an early lead in the opening set and jumped up to a 22-15 lead before the Tornados tried to mount a comeback. The Lady Lions took the first set 25-19 and led 14-4 in the second.
Piedmont appeared to be coasting in the second and took a 25-11 win in the second set, but Brevard was not giving up as they edged out the Lady Lions in the third set. The Tornados led 20-17 after a five point run secured the lead for Brevard.
The Lady Lions tied the set at 21 and took a lead 23-22, but it was the Tornados who took three straight points to avoid the sweep with a 25-23 win in the third. Brevard led early in the fourth set again but Piedmont rallied back to close out the match in the fourth set with a 25-22 win.
TURNING POINT:
--The Tornados stormed back to take the third set and make it a 2-1 contest but Piedmont closed out the fourth set with a 25-22 win to claim the match.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

ALI WILKINS accounted for all but one assist during the match as she had 44 of Piedmont's 45 assists.
