Scoring Barrage Pushes Men’s Soccer Past Toccoa Falls 7-0

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's soccer team rolled past Toccoa Falls, 7-0, on Tuesday night at the Walker Athletic Complex.
 
The Lions (5-6-2) scored four times in the first half and added three more in the second to pull away from the Screaming Eagles.
 
PC started the scoring barrage early, as JOSE LINARES found the back of the net off a deflection in the game's third minute. Just over 10 minutes later, Linares converted a penalty kick for his seventh goal of the season.
 
Piedmont continued to pour it on just minutes later, as senior VICTOR MUNOZ connected on a short cross from MALAMIN JALLOW to put the Lions up 3-0.
 
Minutes after entering the contest, ERNESTO PLATAS netted his first of the season, beating the keeper on his second touch after a long through ball from BRYSON TEAL.
 
After the Screaming Eagles (2-9-1) kept the Lions off the board for over 20 minutes in the second half, until Jallow found the back of the net in the 68th minute.
 
Leading 5-0 in the final 10 minutes, PC added two more late goals to add to its lead. COLIN OWEN tallied his first of the year before Platas capped the scoring with his second of the night.
 
Up next, the Lions will remain at home to face Mary Baldwin this Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
 
TURNING POINT:
- JOSE LINARES' two goals in the first 13 minutes helped Piedmont establish a two-goal advantage that it added to throughout the contest.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- JOSE LINARES converted twice in the first 13 minutes for his second multi-goal game of the season.
- ERNESTO PLATAS came off the bench and scored once in each half to add to Piedmont's lead.
- Both MALAMIN JALLOW and COLIN OWEN tallied an assist and goal each.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lions held a 29-5 shot advantage.
