DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime to LaGrange on Tuesday night at the Walker Athletic Complex.

After an almost 90-minute weather delay, the Lions (3-4-1, 2-3-1 USA South) struck first on CAMERON EARLS' fourth goal of the season, but the Panthers (4-5-1, 3-2-1 USA South) equalized just before the half and scored the game-winner late in the first overtime period to take the victory.

Piedmont started the game strong, controlling possession for the early minutes before Linares sent in a beautiful free kick to the back post that was headed home by Earls. The goal tied Earls with Linares for the team lead with four for the year.

Just before the end of the first half, LaGrange was able to draw a free kick just outside the box before Blake Webb curled in a shot past Piedmont goalkeeper CAMERON VERONA into the top left corner of the net.

Neither side was able to generate much offense in the second half, but LaGrange took momentum after VICTOR MUNOZ's second yellow card of the game forced the Lions to play a man down starting in the 87th minute.

With the first overtime winding down, LaGrange scored the game-winner as Webb rocketed a shot from to the top right corner to send the Panthers home victorious.

Up next, the Lions will travel to Berea to battle the Mountaineers this Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
