Men's Basketball Falls in OT at Brevard 78-73

BREVARD, N.C. - The Piedmont College men's basketball team could not keep pace with the Tornados as Brevard took a 78-73 decision in overtime Tuesday. The Lions were outscored in the final minutes of regulation 13-2 to lead to overtime and Brevard scored 10 to Piedmont's five in the extra period. 

The Tornados led by five in the first five minutes of play then stretched the lead to eight 15-7. A 10-0 run for Piedmont put the Lions out in front, and the Lions continued to roll leading 24-17 with 8:53 to go till halftime.

Piedmont took a 41-31 lead into the half and maintained the lead until 12:31 to play when Brevard led 47-46. The Lions had another run this time 8-0 to build back a lead, but the Tornados continued to chip away at it. 

Piedmont led 66-55 with 2:46 to play in regulation, but would only score another two points in the final minutes while the Tornados netted 13 to tie the game. In overtime, the Tornados led throughout. 

Turning Point
--Piedmont led 66-55 with 2:46 remaining in regulation, but the Tornados outscored the Lions 13-2 in the final minutes to tie the game and took the contest in OT.

Standout Performances
--JUSTIN QUICK banked four 3-pointers and led the team with 21 points along with five boards and went a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. 

Inside the Box Score
--Both teams made 78% of their free throws with Brevard scoring seven more points than PC from the line. 

News & Notes
--The Lions' largest lead came late in the first half, leading by 13 41-28.
