Abdulgader's Career-High Not Enough as Men's Basketball Loses 78-66 to Maryville

DEMOREST, Ga. - TARIQ ABDULGADER scored a career-high 13 points for the Piedmont men's basketball team but it was not enough to match the Scots of Maryville College in a 78-66 decision. Piedmont was led by TAYLOR MILLS who scored 16 points including five 3-pointers. 

Abdulgader accounted for seven of Piedmont's first 16 points as the Lions built a 16-8 lead with 12:58 to go till the break. Piedmont led by as many as nine in the first half, but the Scots made a late nine point run to take a 36-32 lead into the half. 

Maryville stretched their lead to 10 out of halftime with a 6-0 run capped off with a fastbreak dunk off a steal. The Lions continued to battle with TAYLOR MILLS banking a 3-pointer with 15:32 to play cutting it to 46-42. 

COLE HUSKEY had a five point run of his own with a layup then three free throws after being fouled beyond the arc. Those free throws made it a one point game 48-47 in favor of the Scots, but it was not until nine minutes later with 4:55 to play that Piedmont would tie the game at 63. 

The Scots closed out the game on a 15-3 run holding Piedmont to just five points in the final five minutes. 

Turning Point
--The Scots held Piedmont scoreless in the final 2:22 of the contest after a TAYLOR MILLS 3-pointer that made it a four point game. 

Standout Performances
--TARIQ ABDULGADER scored a career-high 13 points, all coming in the first half, after notching a career-high nine points against William Peace on Friday. 

Inside the Box Score
--Emier Bowman led all scorers with 22 points along with three blocks. 

News & Notes
--Maryville took the first meeting between these two earlier this season at Maryville 83-56.
