DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont college men's soccer used a pair of early second-half goals to take down Maryville, 2-0, on a rainy night at the Walker Athletic Complex.

The Lions (5-1, 4-0 USA South) broke through with a 48th minute goal from DAVID QUICENO before CAMERON EARLS continued his outstanding play with a strike from inside the box that gave the Lions a two-goal cushion early in the second half.

Earls has now scored eight times in Piedmont's past four contests.

After an hour and a half delay, both teams came out strong defensively with shutouts in the first half. The game was played evenly, as the Lions held a 5-4 shot advantage, while Maryville (4-3, 3-2 USA South) had a 4-0 advantage in corners.

Once again, PC roared out of the gates in the second half, as COLIN OWEN delivered a perfectly timed cross into the box that Quiceno headed past the keeper for his first goal of the season. Then, in the 61st minute, Owen delivered another timely pass, this time finding Earls as he knifed through the Scots' defense and found the back of the net to continue his hot streak.

From there, Piedmont held off Maryville and earned its second home shutout of the season. Goalkeeper CAMERON VERONA improved to 5-0 on the season with three saves.
