LaGrange, Ga. – The Piedmont college men's soccer team scored four goals in a 15-minute span to run away from LaGrange for a 4-1 road win on Wednesday night.
With the game scoreless as the first half wound down, freshman forward
LULE TEKILEMARIAM weaved through the LaGrange (3-2, 0-1 USA South) defense and found the back of the net to break the scoreless tie.
From there, the Lions (4-1, 3-0 USA South) took off and added three more goals over the next 15 minutes of game action to put the game away with a 4-0 lead early in the second half.
After Tekilemariam gave PC the opening strike, reigning USA South Player of the Week
CAMERON EARLS continued his outstanding play, scoring late in the first half before adding his second of the night in the 47th minute.
Sophomore defender
IAN ADDISON converted off a free kick from
JOSE LINARES to cap the scoring barrage just five minutes later.
LaGrange's Kaine Baker broke the shutout with under 30 seconds remaining to give Piedmont the 4-1 victory.
Overall, the Lions and Panthers attempted 11 shots apiece for the game, while goalkeeper
CAMERON VERONA made three saves and improved his season record to 4-0.
TURNING POINT:
- With the game locked in a scoreless tie in the 36th minute, Tekilemariam got loose and slipped a shot past Panthers keeper Cory Aycock for his second career goal.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- In his past three games, Earls has netted a remarkable seven goals, which included a hat trick against Brevard on Sept. 11.
- Addison and Tekilemariam each delivered their second goals of the season.

MATT CRUMBLEY assisted on both of Piedmont's first-half goals
- Veteran midfielders Linares and
VICTOR MUNOZ assisted on the team's two second-half goals.
NEWS AND NOTES:
- The win gives PC its first-ever 3-0 start in the USA South.
UP NEXT:
- The Lions return home to host Maryville next Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. in their USA South home opener.
