BREVARD, N.C. – The Piedmont College men's soccer team received a hat trick from CAMERON EARLS and cruised to a 6-1 road win at Brevard on Tuesday night.

The Lions (3-1, 2-0 USA South) struck early, as Earls scored in the seventh minute to give PC an early advantage that they held the rest of the way. After the Lions doubled their lead just before the half, Earls added his second and third goals of the night early in the second to give PC a comfortable lead.

After Earls scored in the early minutes, Brevard (0-3, 0-1 USA South) responded by gaining control of possession midway through the half. The Tornados earned a penalty kick in the 23rd minute, but were unable to equalize as Piedmont goalkeeper CAMERON VERONA came up with an outstanding diving save to his right to keep Brevard off the scoreboard.

Although the Tornados held a 6-3 edge in shot attempts in the first half, the Lions struck again, as defender NICK POPE found the back of the net in the final minute of the first half to give Piedmont a 2-0 lead going into the locker room.

The Lions roared out of the halftime break, as Earls scored twice in the first five minutes of the half to give him his fifth goal in the past two contests.

In the closing minutes, defender IAN ADDISON scored his first career goal before Brevard ended the shutout with a late strike. ERNESTO PLATAS' second goal of the season in the 82nd minute concluded the scoring to give the Lions the 6-1 victory.
