Men’s Lacrosse Edges William Peace 10-8 To Close Regular Season

DEMOREST, Ga. – Sophomore JEREMY KOHN scored five goals to lead the Piedmont men's lacrosse to a 10-8 win over William Peace on Saturday morning.
 
The Lions close out the regular season with a program best nine wins and have clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming USA South Athletic Conference tournament. Piedmont will play on Saturday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m in LaGrange, Ga.
 
William Peace scored with 9:00 left in the first quarter to give the Pacers an early 1-0 lead. Less than five minutes later, JOSH COBBINA found BRADY JENKS for the Lions' first goal as the game was tied 1-1 after the first.
 
Piedmont would pull ahead 4-1 after goals by Jenks, CHASE GOFF and Kohn, before a pair of Pacers goals cut the lead to one score.
 
Kohn scored on a ma-up situation with 1:10 left in the first half to extend Piedmont's lead to 5-3.
 
Kohn started off the third quarter with two goals to put Piedmont ahead 7-3, but William Peace scored twice to keep it interesting.
 
The Lions answered back with a pair of goals and led 9-5 with one quarter left to play.
 
William Peace scored three-unanswered goals to make it a one-score game. After nearly seven minutes of scoreless action, Kohn sealed the game with 52 seconds left on a man-up goal.
 
Senior PATRICK SMITH earned the start in cage for the Lions and had 12 saves and six ground balls.  
 
LAMONT NESBITT won 12 faceoffs and had five ground balls.
 
Kohn added five ground balls to go along with his five goals while Jenks finished with three goals.

-- Cobbia had a game-high three assists while SEAN KENNELL and Goff each had one goal and one assist.
-- NICK BURNS and CADE CUDA added one assist apiece.
-- JEREMY BECK had five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

-- Prior to Saturday's game, head coach Tim Dunton recognized seniors JEREMY BECK and PATRICK SMITH.
