Lions Sweep #17 Maryville in Third-Straight Comeback Win 3-1

DEMOREST, Ga.  - The Piedmont College baseball team completed the sweep of #17 Maryville College Saturday with a 3-1 win, once again in come-from-behind fashion. RYAN STEWART earned the win on the mound as the Piedmont pitching staff combined to give up six hits and one run with just one hit and no runs by the bullpen. 

The Scots scored in the first to take a 1-0 lead off Stewart scoring one run on three hits in the first. Piedmont had just two hits heading into the sixth inning as BRADY BALLSTADT accounted for both to that point and added the third of the day for the Lions putting runners on first and second with one out. 

JUSTIN GROOVER scored on an ANDREW BURDEN single then a double steal by Burden and Ballstadt put two in scoring position for TYLER BURDETTE. Burdette singled to score both runs and give the Lions the lead 3-1. 

SETH GEORGE entered in relief and pitched two innings giving up just one hit and striking out one while BUDDY GREEN took the mound for the ninth inning and closed out the contest. Green earned his third save in two days to give him seven this season ending the contest on a strikeout looking. 

Turning Point
--TYLER BURDETTE hit a 2-RBI single in the sixth inning to score ANDREW BURDEN and BRADY BALLSTADT giving Piedmont the 3-1 lead.

Standout Performances
--Piedmont's pitching was stellar Saturday giving up just six hits and one run. 

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont turned four double-plays in the contest. 

News & Notes
--The Scots have just eight losses this season with all eight coming in league play.

--Piedmont heads to the USA South Tournament in LaGrange, Georgia with seeding and matchups announced later this weekend following the completion of regular season league competition.
