DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont College baseball team picked up a shutout victory over Lynchburg on Friday thanks to a stellar effort by the pitching staff. The Piedmont pitcher's combined for a 13 strikeout performance led by starter SAM CARPENTER who pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts.

It wasn't until the fourth inning that Piedmont would make its way on to the scoreboard as ANDREW BURDEN doubled followed by TYLER BURDETTE trading places with him to drive in the game's first run. The Hornets threatened in the top of the third, but Carpenter worked out of a bases loaded jam.

NOAH HEATHERLY had a sac-fly to score Burdette in the seventh, then Piedmont poured it on in the eighth inning with four runs scored on two hits and two errors. The Lions forced five pitching changes in the frame as the Hornets made their first call to the pen to start the eighth inning.
