Lady Lions Down Monarchs 16-14 on Senior Day

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont women's lacrosse team came out victorious against the Monarchs of Methodist University 14-16 on Saturday afternoon on senior day.

The Lady Lions scored first with DOMONIQUE STEELE finding the twine early. The Monarchs would answer with a pair but PC would go on a five goal run midway through the first half.

The Lady Lions would score another five to the Monarchs three to close out the opening half of the contest with PC leading 11-5.

Once again Piedmont would open up scoring first in the second half but this time it was the Monarchs who would find a run scoring six straight to come within one of the Lady Lions with 12:34 left to play. EMMA FRANSEN and CASSIDY HEFLIN would each find the net to stop the Methodist run.

The Lady Lions would score two more including CAITLIN O'BRIEN and ROWAN BUMPASS each scoring their fourth goals of the game. 

The Lady Lions' early lead would be too much for the Monarchs as PC would go on to win 16-14. 

MATTIE KEATON had 15 saves in the win. 
 
Turning Point
--A pair of five goal runs for the Lady Lions would give them favorable momentum to keep the Monarchs at bay. 

Standout Performances
--O'Brien showed her versatility as a player as she had a stat in each of the columns with four goals, four assists, five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and seven draw controls.

Inside the Box Score
--Heflin, Bumpass, and O'Brien each scored four goals in the contest. 
--To add to her four goals, O'Brien evened that with four assists as well.

--Before the game, MEGAN KOWALEC and CAITLIN O'BRIEN were each recognized for their achievements as they celebrated their senior day.
