Men’s Lacrosse Sets Program Record For Wins In A Season After Beating Ferrum 8-5

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team won its seventh game of the season on Saturday to set a program record for wins in a season.
 
The Lions took down Ferrum 8-5 as sophomore JOSH COBBINA totaled four points off two goals and two assists.
 
With the win, the Lions regain sole possession of second place in the USA South Athletic Conference with a 3-1 record in league play.
 
Tied 4-4 after three quarters, the Lions scored four unanswered goals to pull ahead 8-4 with over six minutes remaining. The Panthers scored with 4:20 on the clock to cut the lead to three, but the Piedmont defense held strong and closed the game.
 
Ferrum jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first 4:33, but it was CHRIS HADLOW who scored the Lions' first goal of the game. 

The Panthers answered with over two minutes left in the first before JEREMY KOHN scored with 1:02 left to cut the score 3-2. 

Piedmont tied the game midway through the second with a Cobbina goal, but with 31 seconds left in the half, Ferrum regained the lead and led 4-3 at the break.
 
BRADY JENKS scored the lone goal in the third quarter to tie the score 4-4 after the Ferrum goalie was stripped of the ball near midfield. Jenks was able to collect the ground ball and score the easy empty netter.  
 
ZACH CZULADA had 10 saves and allowed five goals. The sophomore keeper leads the conference with a 58.2 save percentage and a 6.30 goals against average.
 
Cobbina's four points were a game-high while Kohn had three points and CHASE GOFF and TYLER ETTEN each had two.
 
LAMONT NESBITT went 10-for-17 at the faceoff dot and collected three ground balls. JAKE HANAK had a game-high nine ground balls while NICK BURNS had five ground balls.

-- Piedmont had six players score at least one goal with Cobbina and Kohn scoring twice.
-- Of the eight goals, five were assisted.

-- The Lions take their first win over Ferrum since the series began in 2012.
