Kohn’s Hat-Trick Not Enough As Lions Fall 6-4 To Conference Leader Huntingdon

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team dropped its first USA South Athletic Conference contest of the year with a 6-4 loss to conference leader Huntingdon College on a cold and windy Wednesday night.
 
Huntingdon jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 6:17 left in the opening quarter before JOSH COBBINA scored his 14th goal of the season to tie the score 1-1.
 
The Hawks answered 40 seconds later to grab the lead back and scored with over two minutes remaining to lead 3-1 after the first quarter and scored once in the second quarter to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.  
 
JEREMY KOHN scored his first of three second-half goals to start things off in the third quarter to cut the lead back to two.
 
After both teams failed to score for over 12 minutes, Huntingdon extended its lead with 1:11 left in the third quarter.
 
The Hawks capped their scoring 16 seconds into the fourth quarter to lead 6-2 with over 14 minutes left.
 
Kohn scored with 8:02 and 4:22 on the clock to pull the Lions within two scores, but the defense of Huntingdon was able to stop the final offensive possessions to close out the game.
 
LAMONT NESBITT went 8-for-14 to win the battle at the faceoff dot and collected a team-high five ground balls.
 

Inside The Box Score
-- Piedmont finished with more shots (35-24), ground balls (24-15) and saves (6-5).
-- Both teams had two failed clears as the Lions went 9-for-11 while the Hawks went 15-for-17.

News and Notes
-- Since winning the first matchup in the series, the Lions have dropped six straight to the Hawks.
