BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Piedmont women's lacrosse team trailed 12-7 at halftime, but lost 22-9 at Birmingham-Southern on a rainy and windy Tuesday night at Krulak Stadium.
DOMONIQUE STEELE scored the game's first goal just under two minutes into the contest, but the Panthers scored seven straight in just under five minutes to lead 7-1 with 22:12 left in the opening half.
The Lady Lions answered with goals from
CAITLIN O'BRIEN,
EMMA FRANSEN,
REBEKAH LEE and
ERIN AYLWARD to cut the lead to two. After a pair of BSC goals, Steele answered but the Panthers outscored Piedmont 3-1 in the final 1:32 and led 12-7 at half.
BSC opened the second half with seven straight goals and closed the game with a 3-2 run thanks to Piedmont goals by O'Brien.
MATTIE KEATON recorded 18 saves in the loss. O'Brien finished with three goals, four draw controls and three caused turnovers.
