Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Averett 21-2 To Remain Unbeaten IN Conference Play

DANVILLE, Va. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team beat Averett University 21-2 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in the USA South Athletic Conference.
 
This is the first year for the Averett men's lacrosse program.
 
Piedmont jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and led 14-0 at half. The Lions would go onto outscore Averett 5-2 in the third and 2-0 in the fourth.
 
SEAN KENNELL posted a career-high six points off five goals and one assist. The sophomore had five points in the first half with four goals and one assist.
 
JONAH PRESTON also had six points as the freshman had four assists and two goals. Classmate CHASE GOFF added four assists and one goal in the win.
 
BRADY JENKS and TYLER ETTEN added three goals apiece while Jenks picked up seven ground balls.
 
CHRIS HADLOW had a three-point day (2g,1a) and had five ground balls with JOSH COBBINA adding a pair of goals and six ground balls.
 
JEREMY KOHN, NICK BURNS and JASON GREXA each scored once. JAKE HANAK finished with a team-high eight ground balls.
 
LAMONT NESBITT went 8-for-11 on faceoffs while QUINLAN KING won 13 faceoffs on 15 attempts.
 
All three goalies saw time in the cage with ZACH CZULADA earning the win.
 
 
Inside The Box Score
-- Piedmont had a program-record 71 ground balls in the win and out-shot the Cougars 59-9.
 
News and Notes
-- Saturday's win was the second time this season that the men's lacrosse team has scored more than 20 goals.
