DEMOREST, Ga. - On a brisk Tuesday evening, freshman
RYAN COX led Piedmont to a 2-0 win over Stevens Institute of Technology as Cox picked up his first collegiate win on the mound with eight strikeouts.
The Piedmont offense was able to get on the board in the bottom of the first thanks to three walks to start the game for the Lions and a sacrifice fly by
NOAH HEATHERLY. Piedmont did not record a hit until the bottom of the fourth inning and had four hits in the game.
The second run of the game came in the sixth inning as Heatherly would score on a passed ball after a pair of singles and a walk in the frame.
Cox earned the win with six innings pitched while the Piedmont bullpen of
ALEX ANDREW,
MATT VONDERSCHMIDT, and
BUDDY GREEN combined for the final three innings giving up no hits. Green earned his first save of the season pitching the ninth.
