CAITLIN O'BRIEN scored with 20 seconds left in overtime to give Piedmont a 20-19 win over conference opponent Greensboro College on a wet and cold Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Lady Lions remain unbeaten in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Leading 14-9 with 20 seconds left in the first half, the Pride used a 5-0 run to tie the game 14-14 with over 14 minutes left in the game. For the remainder of the game, neither team would lead by more than one goal.
Tied at 17 with four minutes left, each team would score twice as Piedmont would take the lead with 2:13 before Greensboro scored with 47 seconds left to tie the game once more.
The Lady Lions looked to be in control after O'Brien scored with 28 seconds left, but the Pride answered back as Natalie Richey scored her eighth goal of the game with 11 seconds left to even the score at 19.
Piedmont gained initial possession to begin overtime. After the offense worked the ball around, O'Brien was able to get her shot off past the goalie for the win.
O'Brien finished with eight points (7g,1a), three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
EMMA FRANSEN added six points (4,2) while
MACEY HIGGINS added three goals and two assists.
CASSIDY HEFLIN scored three goals and had one assist and a team-high eight draw controls.
MATTIE KEATON had 18 saves in the win.
