DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team remains unbeaten in conference play with a 5-0 record after posting a 21-5 win over N.C. Wesleyan Saturday. The Lady Lions have won their last two straight and three of the last four contests.
Piedmont took a quick 6-0 lead over the first six minutes of play before the Battling Bishops scored their first goal with 22:50 on the clock in the first half. It was Alexandra Cucinotta who accounted for all five goals for N.C. Wesleyan with three in the first half as PC led 15-3 after the first.
The Battling Bishops were the first on the board in the second half, but the Lady Lions would add six goals to NCWC's two in the second half.
Ten different Lady Lions scored in the contest with eight multi-goal scorers.
ROWAN BUMPASS scored four to lead Piedmont while
EMMA FRANSEN added three goals.
CASSIDY HEFLIN recorded seven draw controls in the game along with three caused turnovers while
CAITLIN O'BRIEN added three caused turnovers as well.
Turning Point
--Piedmont raced out to an 8-1 lead in the first eight minutes of the game.
Inside The Box Score
--There were 10 different goal scorers for the Lady Lions including
CECE COGLIANO and
MATTIE KEATON scoring their first goals of their career.
News and Notes
--Piedmont has scored 15 goals in the first half of the last two games against Huntingdon and N.C. Wesleyan.
