DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont women's lacrosse team opened its six-game homestand with a 21-10 USA South Athletic Conference win over in-state rival LaGrange College on a wet Wednesday night.
 
The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead before MACEY HIGGINS found the back of the net for the Lady Lions in the first five minutes of play.
 
Both teams traded goals before Piedmont netted four straight goals to take an 8-5 lead with 6:13 remaining in the half.
 
LaGrange cut the lead to two, but the Lady Lions scored twice with 2:43 left to lead 10-6 at halftime.
 
The Panthers opened the second half with a 3-1 run to pull back within two goals before Piedmont rattled off 10 straight goals to pull ahead 21-9. LaGrange scored with just over a minute remaining to reach double-digit goals.
 
CAITLIN O'BRIEN led all players with seven points off of three goals and four assists. The senior also added four ground balls and seven draw controls.
 
MATTIE KEATON recorded 10 saves in the win.
 
Higgins added five points (4g, 1a) while DOMONIQUE STEELE (4g) and CASSIDY HEFLIN (3g, 1a) had four points. Heflin also had seven draw controls.
 

Turning Point
-- Leading 14-9, Piedmont scored five goals in a 1:22 span to pull ahead 19-9.

Inside The Box Score
-- ROWAN BUMPASS and REBEKAH LEE each had three points apiece.

Up Next
-- The Lady Lions return home on Sunday for an 11:00 a.m. matchup against Sewanee.
