DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont College baseball team picked up a 15-6 win in the series finale Saturday against Berea College to sweep the conference opening series. The Lions move to 6-5 overall and above .500 this season while posting a 3-0 record in the USA South.
It was once again the offense that led the way plating 15 runs on 15 hits.
BRADY BALLSTADT was 3-for-5 with two triples and a home run, his second of the season.
JUSTIN GROOVER hit a home run as well as his came in the second at bat of the game for Piedmont after
TYLER SHELEY was walked in the bottom of the first.
Piedmont led 4-1 after the first inning, but the Mountaineers made it 4-3 in the next frame. The Lions were in control 8-3 after six innings, but in the top of the seventh, the Mountaineers scored three runs on four hits to cut it to just a two run lead for PC.
The Lions would respond and score seven more runs to close out the contest and take the series finale 15-6.
DAVID CRAFT earned the win for Piedmont as the starter going five innings giving up six hits, three runs and two walks to move to 2-0 this season. Both
SETH GEORGE and
BUDDY GREEN pitched three-up, three-down innings as two of Piedmont's four relief pitchers used in the contest.
Turning Point
--It was a two-run game heading into the bottom of the seventh inning but the Lions managed five runs on three hits and one error to claim a 13-6 lead.
Standout Performances
--
BRADY BALLSTADT was the lone Lion with more than two hits as he was 3-for-5 with two triples and a home run adding a team-high 4 RBI.
Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont had nine extra base hits with two home runs and five triples in the game.

--In all six wins for the Lions this season the team has scored 10 or more runs.
