CARY, N.C. - The Piedmont College baseball team opened the conference road schedule Friday with a convincing 11-2 win over William Peace. The Pacers were shut down by
SAM CARPENTER who earned the win while the Piedmont offense continued its onslaught having scored 11 or more in the last four contests.
The Pacers were the first on the board though taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after the Lions left the bases loaded in the top half of the frame. William Peace's run came after a pair of walks and a double to drive in a run.
The Lions answered back in the next half inning with five runs to secure the lead and never trailed again in the contest. Piedmont added runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings with the Pacers scoring just once more following the seventh inning stretch.
Piedmont had three players record multi-hit games led by freshman
TYLER SHELEY who has secured his spot in the lineup as he was 4-for-6 while both
ANDREW BURDEN and
NOAH HEATHERLY had two hits.
Turning Point
--A five-run second inning put the Lions in front as they scored five runs on three hits in the frame.

TYLER SHELEY posted his best game of his young career going 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored.

SAM CARPENTER earned the win moving to 3-1 after pitching six innings giving up one run and striking out five.
