SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Piedmont men's lacrosse team lost 11-7 to Southwestern University on Friday in a neutral site game that featured heavy fog that featured limited visibility.
Friday's game started off slowly for both teams as the Pirates carried a 2-1 lead into the second quarter.
BRADY JENKS scored the Lions' first goal with 9:44 on the clock.
PC would take the lead early in the second quarter with goals from
CHASE GOFF and Jenks. Southwestern would regain the lead with a pair of goals before Goff scored his second of the game to tie the score 4-4. A late goal by the Pirates would make the score 5-4 going into halftime.
Southwestern would continue the scoring streak with three straight goals and build its lead to four.
Goals by Jenks and
JONAH PRESTON would cut the lead to two goals, but the Pirates answered right back, scoring twice in 43 seconds.
Piedmont answered early in the fourth and trailed by three with 12:44 left, but the deficit would be too much. Southwestern scored with 17 seconds left on an empty net to seal the win.
LAMONT NESBITT won 13 faceoffs in the loss.
Turning Point
-- Leading 5-4 at halftime, Southwestern opened the second half with three goals to pull ahead 8-4.
Standout Performances
-- Jenks scored four goals while Goff had two.
