Men’s Lacrosse Drops Season Opener In Final Seconds At Centre

Danville, Ky. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team opened its season with a 5-4 loss to Centre College on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
 
Tied 4-4 with less than 30 seconds remaining, Centre rattled off three shots before scoring on its fourth opportunity as time expired to open the season with a victory.
 
The Colonels opened Saturday's game with the first goal coming at the 12:08 mark to take an early lead before a JEREMY KOHN goal tied it at 1-1 with 3:35 remaining in the opening quarter.
 
After a scoreless second quarter, both teams traded a pair of goals in the third quarter to take a 3-3 tie into the fourth.
 
Centre scored with 9:47 left in the third before Piedmont answered with goals from Kohn and SEAN KENNELL. Kennell's goal was assisted by CHASE GOFF on an extra-man opportunity.
 
Goff would then give Piedmont the lead early in the fourth quarter as the Lions would hold the lead until Centre tied the game 4-4 with 1:29 remaining.
 
ZACH CZULADA finished the game with nine saves and five goals allowed.

-- Leading 4-3, Centre tied the game with 1:29 left before scoring the game-winner as time expired.

News & Notes
-- Piedmont falls to 0-4 in the all-time series between the two schools but held Centre to only five goals, the fewest scored by the Colonels in the series.
 
Inside The Box Score
-- NICK BURNS had a team-high four ground balls while Kohn and Goff each had two points apiece.
-- Piedmont was outshot 33-16.
 
Up Next
-- Piedmont will travel to Sewanee, Tenn. on Friday for a neutral site matchup against Southwestern University. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
