Mills' Drops 22 Points in 69-51 Loss to Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga. - TAYLOR MILLS' 22 points were not enough against the Stormy Petrels as the Piedmont College men's basketball team lost 69-51 to Oglethorpe Saturday. Mills connected on four 3-pointers marking the second time he's accomplished that this season and his 22 points were the most he's scored in the 2018-19 season. 

The Lions led by as many as six in the first half 16-10 in the first five minutes of play and maintained the lead until 9:25 in the first half when the Stormy Petrels led 19-18. Oglethorpe used a 10-0 run and held the Lions scoreless for five minutes, but Piedmont trailed by just two at the break 30-28. 

It remained a two point game in the early going of the second half, but the Stormy Petrels got a dunk to spark a 7-0 run to stretch out the lead. Oglethorpe led by 15 just inside of 10:00 to go in the contest and maintained a double-digit lead, leading by as many as 20 in the closing minutes. 

Only four players scored for the Lions in the second half led by Mills' 10 points. Piedmont had five 3-pointers in the game with all coming from the hands of Mills' and Lanier. 

Turning Point
--An 8-0 run midway through the second half created a gap as Oglethorpe took a 14-point lead and maintained control in the second half. 

Standout Performances
--TAYLOR MILLS scored 22 points to lead all scorers, accounting for nearly half of Piedmont's points. 

Inside the Box Score
--Both teams saw less than 10 points come off the bench as Piedmont had eight points from bench players while Oglethorpe had seven. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont is averaging 66.8 points per game.
