BEREA, Ky. - EVAN EASTON scored a career-high 13 points to lead Piedmont, but the men's basketball team lost a tough conference contest to the Berea Mountaineers 65-64. A free throw with four seconds remaining on the clock gave the Mountaineers the lead and the victory.

Berea led by four in the early-going, but Piedmont saw three 3-pointers drop from Easton, COLE HUSKEY and TAYLOR MILLS to build a five point lead of their own with 11:12 to go in the first half. The Lions stretched the lead to eight points after a MARQUISE LANIER 3-pointer and took a 32-29 lead into halftime.

Piedmont maintained the lead in the second half until the 13:58 mark when the Mountaineers tied the game at 44-all. That was part of a 14-0 run by Berea to claim an 11-point lead with less than 10:00 remaining.

The Lions clawed back with a 7-0 run of their own and tied the game with 28 seconds remaining, but a late foul and made free throw for the Mountaineers gave them the win. In the final seven minutes, eight of the 10 points the Mountaineers scored came from the charity stripe.

Piedmont had six different players bank one from deep accounting for the eight 3-pointers. Berea scored 26 points from the free throw line to Piedmont's six.
