ROME, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team fell to Berry College, 73-57, on Sunday afternoon in Rome.
 
After the Lions (0-10) battled back with a late first half run to cut their deficit to just four points, the Vikings (8-3) responded with a dominant second-half to run to pull away for the comfortable victory.
 
Freshman guard 
JUSTIN QUICK was the only Piedmont player in double figures, scoring 11 points on 3-of-3 from the three-point line. Senior guards 
MARQUISE LANIER and 
MILES RILEY added nine points each for the Lions.
 
Berry controlled play in the first half, but Piedmont battled back to cut its deficit to four points headed into the locker room. The Lions remained in the game due to a strong defensive performance, forcing 10 first-half turnovers while only committing five. Quick connected on both of his three-point attempts to lead PC with eight points in the first half.
 
The Vikings recaptured the momentum early in the second half. They outscored the Lions, 15-6 over the first five minutes of the second half and took a 47-34 lead. From that point, Piedmont was unable to close the gap, as the Vikings' hot shooting from beyond the arc allowed  to increase their lead and emerge with the victory.
TURNING POINT:
- Berry led 32-28 at the half, but emerged from the locker room and used a 15-6 run in the first five minutes of the second half to secure a double-digit lead that held the rest of the way.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Freshman guard 
JUSTIN QUICK knocked down all three of his three-point attempts to lead PC with 11 points.
- Forward 
EVAN EASTON added six points off the bench to go with three rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lions forced 21 Vikings turnovers and committed only 13.
- However, Berry benefitted from going 10-of-22 from beyond the arc, while the Lions made just 5-of-20 from deep.
