DEMOREST, Ga. - Thanks to a late second half rally for the opposition, the Piedmont College Lions dropped a 76-68 game against LaGrange Tuesday evening. The Lions were led by MARQUISE LANIER who led all scorers in the game with his 21 points but the Panthers had four players in double figures to Piedmont's three. 

To start the game, LaGrange took a 14-3 lead and looked to be in control, but the Lions reeled off a 17-2 run and held the Panthers scoreless for nearly seven minutes. Piedmont led 20-16 and built a seven point lead going into the half leading 36-29. 

In the second, Piedmont built its lead to 14 after a TARIQ ABDULGADER tip-in with the and one and an ANDREW STIMPSON 3-pointer. That lead would quickly dwindle after a 9-0 run by the Panthers making it 51-46 with 11:18 remaining. 

Momentum had shifted in favor of the visiting bench as the Panthers were able to gain the lead with 5:30 to play on a 3-pointer leading 56-55 and would hold Piedmont to just three baskets from the floor in the final five minutes. 

Turning Point
--A LaGrange 3-pointer with 5:30 to play gave the Panthers the lead and sparked a run of five 3-pointers in the next four minutes off the clock. 

Standout Performances
--MARQUISE LANIER led Piedmont with his 21 points while JORDAN FOOTE tallied 14 rebounds, a career-high mark for the sophomore. 

Inside the Box Score
--LaGrange shot just 24% from the floor in the first half but rallied to shoot 55% from the floor in the second. 

News & Notes
--This marked the conference opener for the Lions who begin USA South play 0-1.
