WHEATON, Ill. - The Piedmont men's basketball team closed out the Lee Pfund Classic, hosted by Wheaton College, with a 79-64 loss to Coe College on Saturday night.Â
The Lions (0-4) held tough in the first and trailed the Kohawks (2-2) 36-33 after the first 20 minutes of action.Â
Piedmont took a 16-15 lead eight minutes into the first half off an
ANDREW STIMPSON 3-pointer and led by four with just over six minutes left in the opening half.Â
The turning point of the game came when Coe pulled away early and controlled the second half with a 23-10 run in the opening 9:06.Â
Despite shooting 43% from the floor, Piedmont went 11-23 from the free-throw line while Coe went 25-30 from the charity stripe.Â
Junior
MILES RILEY led Piedmont with 14 points in 17 minutes while senior
MARQUISE LANIER scored 13 with five rebounds.Â
Piedmont's 0-4 start marks the worse start since the Lions' 0-7 start in 2012-13.Â
