Men’s Soccer Rolls to 5-0 Victory Over Toccoa Falls

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 home win over Toccoa Falls on Tuesday night at the Walker Athletic Complex.
 
The Lions did not waste any time, jumping out to a lead in the fifth minute on a BRANDON RAMOS header. PC added two more goals in the first half before tacking on two more to conclude the night with the 5-0 final.
 
Piedmont held a 32-6 shot advantage for the game including an 18-0 edge in the first half.
 
After Ramos opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, reigning USA South Player of the Week CAMERON EARLS scored his 13th of the season in the 22nd minute to put the Lions up, 2-0.  Minutes later, JOSE LINARES added his first of 2018 to cap the first-half scoring.
 
Freshman goalkeeper CADEN WILLIAMS entered in goal for the Lions to start the second half. In his first action of the season, he saved the only Screaming Eagles (4-6) on-target shot.
 
With a comfortable lead throughout the second half, PC added two late second-half goals as NIC ENGLERT and JORDAN MELLILO netted their first career goals to add to the margin.
 
Goalkeeper BLAYTON DUNCAN, who took home USA South Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, earned the win to improve to 2-1-1 for the campaign.
 
PRESIDENTS CUP:
- At halftime of the contest, the Piedmont athletic department was honored by the USA South with the Overall Presidents Cup Trophy along with the Women's Presidents Cup.
 
CAMERON EARLS STAYS HOT:
- CAMERON EARLS has now scored a goal in seven straight games after being held scoreless in the first two.
- His 13 goals on the season put him one shy of matching CHASE KANE, who scored 14 in 2017.
 
UP NEXT:
- The Lions return to the road to take on conference foe Methodist this Friday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.
