BEREA, Ky. - On the road in Kentucky in USA South play, the Lady Lions picked up two victories moving to 4-1 in league play and currently sitting in second overall in the West Division. The Lady Lions swept Wesleyan 3-0 and fought back from an 0-2 deficit to win 3-2 over Berea.
Piedmont set the tone early against Wesleyan making quick work of the Wolves with 25-9, 25-10, 25-7 wins. The Lady Lions had 29 kills to Wesleyan's four and held them to a negative attack percentage in the match (-.212).
It was the opposite story against Berea as the Mountaineers took control early with two wins in the first two sets 25-19 and 26-24. In what could have been the deciding set, Piedmont rose to the task at hand and shut down the Mountaineers 25-14 then bettered it with a 25-12 victory. In the fifth and deciding set, the Lady Lions claimed a 15-9 win.
Turning Point
--Piedmont made quick work of the Wolves but the turning point in the match against Berea came in the third set when the Lady Lions claimed their first set and never relented.
Standout Performances
--JENNA WENDEL tallied 18 assists in both contests of the day.
--KATELYN DURMIRE led the team with 12 kills against Berea while also posting 4 aces and added five blocks on the day.
News & Notes
--Piedmont's match against Berea was the Lady Lions' first five set win this season with only one other match going to five sets.
