Atlanta, GA -  To open the 2017 season, the Lady Lion volleyball team picked up a pair of victories at the Oglethorpe Invitational led by ANNA WRIGHT's double-digit kills in both matches. Piedmont won 3-0 against Columbia to open the season and picked up a 3-1 win over Illinois Tech to end the day. 

The Lady Lions won 25-8, 25-6, 25-6 to claim a convincing win over the Koalas to open the season. Piedmont had 38 kills to the Koalas' seven in the contest as Wright had more kills individually (11) than the Columbia team as a whole. 

In the second game of the day, Piedmont dropped the opening set 25-21, then came back to claim 25-18, 25-20, and 27-25 over Illinois Tech. HALEY HIXON had 28 digs in the contest adding to her 18 from earlier in the day against Columbia. 

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions were dominant against Columbia but dropped the opening set to Illinois Tech, however, they recovered and reeled off three straight wins to claim the match. 

Standout Performances
--ANNA WRIGHT led the team with the most kills on the day with 21 in the two matches with 11 against the Koalas and 10 against the Scarlet Hawks. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont had 11 blocks on the day allowing just one with seven against Illinois Tech without allowing a single block.
