CHASE KANE scored a pair of goals and added one assist to lead Piedmont College to a 3-1 win over Bob Jones University on Saturday. The Lions won their third consecutive season opener and second straight over the Bruins.
Kane scored an early goal with an assist from sophomore
VICTOR MUNOZ for the Lions in the ninth minute to put PC ahead early. The Lions' defense stayed strong for the remainder of the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Bob Jones tied the game in the 73rd minute but Piedmont answered back 12 minutes later. Kane found freshman
DANIEL ARNSTEIN to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. Two minutes later, Kane scored off a penalty kick to put the game away.
Junior goalkeeper
ELLIOT SAILES recorded five saves in the win. Kane led all players with six shots on goal. Arnstein,
GARRETT MOORE and
TOMMY HILL each had one shot on goal.
