Women's Lacrosse Moves to 4-1 in Conference with 17-6 Win over LaGrange

LaGrange, GA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team was on the road facing off against the Panthers of LaGrange College Thursday picking up a 17-6 victory. With just one conference game remaining, PC is 4-1 in league play and tied with Methodist, the lone conference opponent waiting on the schedule. 

It was KAYLA JONES who scored first for the Lady Lions, but the Panthers quickly answered to knot the game up at 1-1 less than three minutes into the contest. It was at that point, the Lady Lions started to take control as they scored five unanswered with three freshmen accounting for all five goals. 

Leading it 6-1, the Panthers would tack on one more before the break but the Lady Lions went into halftime with a dominant 9-2 lead. LaGrange was able to put up four goals in the second half, but it was too little, too late as Piedmont scored eight in the second half including five straight to end the game. 

ROWAN BUMPASS led the way with four goals in the contest but fellow freshman CASSIDY HEFLIN added three as well. Four Lady Lions scored twice on the day with JULIANNA SURGENT, DOMONIQUE STEELE, JENNA SMITH and CAITLIN O'BRIEN each scoring two while Jones and FRANCESCA MALABAD added one each. 

Turning Point
--A five-goal run over 12 minutes of the first half helped establish the lead for the Lady Lions as they outscored LaGrange 9-2 before the break. 

Standout Performances
--ROWAN BUMPASS scored four times in the contest, tying her career-high set against Wittenberg earlier this season. 

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont had eight different goal scorers in the game with six of those scoring two or more goals each. 

News & Notes
--LaGrange has never won a contest against Piedmont as the Lady Lions are a perfect 5-0 against them in program history.
