Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team honored eight players celebrating Senior Day in their final home contest of 2017 prior to taking on Methodist University Saturday. The Lady Lions battled for sixty minutes but could not hold off the high powered offense falling 15-7. The Monarchs' offense shined in the opening ten minutes netting four straight against the Lady Lions.

Senior JENNA SMITH found CASSIDY HEFLIN for the Lady Lions' goal number one of the day. Not four minutes later the heads up play by Smith came into play again as she found CAITLIN O'BRIEN moving the score to 5-2 with just over ten minutes remaining in the half. Two more Methodist goals would find the net before Smith would connect with a goal of her own followed one minute later by a goal from ROWAN BUMPASS ending the half down 7-4.

Methodist was on the board first in the second half when they scored woman-up against the Lady Lions. ROWAN BUMPASS and CAITLIN O'BRIEN would each grab another goal both coming from KAYLA JONES with the assists. A six goal run for the Monarchs would hold off the Lady Lions until 3:23 left in the game when FRANCESCA MALABAD collected a goal from the third Jones assist. The late run by Methodist pushed the Monarchs through the horn ending the match 15-7 in favor of Methodist. 

Turning Point
--The four goal opening ten minutes by the Monarchs kept the Lady Lions at bay for the remainder of the game.

Standout Performances
--KAYLA JONES posted three assists in the game and JENNA SMITH gathered one goal and two assists to give both ladies three points in the contest.

Inside the Box Score
--Both teams were deadlocked on shooting with 20 shots per team. 

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions honored six seniors graduating this spring and two juniors graduating before next season in a ceremony prior to the start of today's contest.

--The Lady Lions hit the road for their final regular season contest against Sewanee in Tennessee on April 10 at 6:00 p.m.
