Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team held off SEILC opponent Greensboro College in a down to the wire decision, finishing the win 7-6.
It took five minutes for either team to score as PC and Greensboro battled back and forth until the Pride claimed the opening goal. Not long after, PC went man-up and capitalized on the extra man to tie the game at one. The Lions were on the board again not even ten seconds later as
LAMONT NESBITT won the faceoff and executed the fast break giving
PRESTON QUARLES his second of the game. The final goal of the quarter came from
JEREMY KOHN with an assist going to
SEAN KENNELL giving Piedmont a 3-1 lead at the break.
The second quarter was evenly split with a pair of goals for each team.
BRITT KENNEDY opened the quarter and Kohn once again hit one before the break as the Lions led at halftime 5-3.
The third quarter, Piedmont was shut out and let up two to the Pride knotting it up at five as they entered the fourth quarter.
JOSH COBBINA got an alley dodge at the 12 minute mark in the final quarter and scored on the run to put Piedmont up 6-5. The response came with 3:34 left in the contest putting the teams back even. Cobbina got downhill yet again and scored the go ahead goal for the Lions. The final minute of play, Greensboro came out of a timeout and got a good shot on cage,
ZACH CZULADA deflected it off his stick. The Pride had the ball on the doorstep and "Big City" Czulada answered with a huge save and clear to ice the game for the Lions.
