Lady Lions Take 6-4 Decision Against the Vikings

Mount Berry, GA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team was on the road facing off against the Vikings of Berry College where they won the contest 6-4.

KAYLA JONES started the scoring for PC as she scored seven minutes after the opening whistle. CAITLIN O'BRIEN was quick to follow scoring her first of the contest five minutes later. 

The Vikings tacked on their first at the midway point of the opening half but Cassidy Heflin answered with goal three for the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions would score again before the halftime buzzer as JULIANNA SURGENT netted one unassisted with just over ten in the half. 

Going into the halftime break the Lady Lions were almost even with the Vikings in all stats as PC led 4-3.

PC put two in the net before the Vikings could counter as FRANCESCA MALABAD scored less than eight minutes into the half and O'Brien added her second of the night ten minutes later. A final push for the Vikings was in the net with just over two to play but the Lady Lions held on for the 6-4 victory. 

Turning Point
--The back-to-back goals by Malabad and O'Brien put the separation to three goals giving the Lady Lions space to hold on for the win. 

Standout Performances
--CAITLIN O'BRIEN was the lone Lady Lion to record more than one goal posting a pair to give her 27 this season, tied for most on the team with ROWAN BUMPASS. 

Inside the Box Score
--BLAKE FORREST allowed just four goals in the contest while earning eight saves. 

News & Notes
--It was a fairly even game statistically though Berry outshot PC 17-15 while both teams had six draw controls.

--The Lady Lions head to LaGrange College to take on the Panthers on Wednesday, April 5 at 5:00 p.m.
