Georgetown, TX - The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team began its action in the Lonestar state Friday dropping a 16-6 decision to Southwestern University. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead to distance themselves from the Lions scoring eight unanswered to begin the game.
The Lions were held scoreless in the opening period as the Pirates led 4-0 after the first and would score another four in the second period.
CHRIS HADLOW got the Lions on the board with 1:01 to go until halftime to make it an 8-1 game at the break.
The Pirates came out of the break and added a pair to their total leading it 10-1 but
PRESTON QUARLES answered back with his first goal of the evening as he accounted for half the Lions' goals Friday. Quarles and
BRADY JENKS accounted for the Lions' goals in the second half as Jenks scored twice in the fourth quarter.
The Lions scored three in a row over a two minute span as Jenks scored his second goal followed by Quarles adding a pair making it 13-6. The Pirates tacked on three late scores as Spence Bodenhamer scored three of his four goals in the final 2:42 of the game.
Turning Point
--An 8-0 start for the Pirates put Southwestern in control of the contest though the Lions would score before the first half ended.
Standout Performances
--
PRESTON QUARLES scored three in the contest giving him his fourth 3-goal performance of the season and 16 goals on the year.
Inside the Box Score
--The Pirates had a three athletes with four goals each in Spence Bodenhamer, Kai Knight-Turcan and Jared Welsh.
News & Notes
--This marks the second team to face Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas this season as the women's lacrosse program also traveled to play the Pirates.

--The Lions continue their trip to the Lonestar state taking on University of Dallas Sunday at 1 p.m. in Dallas.
