Demorest, GA - In a thriller that came down the the #3 singles decision, the Piedmont College men's tennis team won 5-4 over Covenant Wednesday. The Lions remain perfect in conference play at 3-0 and moved to 5-6 on the season.
The Scots led it 2-1 after doubles play with the lone victory for PC coming at the #2 doubles slot as
ROBBIE WERNER and
BRYAN BARNETT combined for the victory. Piedmont rallied to make it a 3-3 match in singles play with wins by
HARRISON LABOLLITA and
ROBBIE WERNER.
The final three singles matches at #1, #3 and #4 would all go to three sets with
KANLER CUMBASS winning at #4 to put PC ahead 4-3, but
NATHAN METZGER lost a tight battle at #1 to make it four all.
The clincher came at #3 singles as
JACKSON HILL dropped the first set 6-4 but rallied to win 6-3 in the second and force the deciding third set. Covenant's Logan Hull led 6-5 but Hill once again rallied to force the tiebreak and won 7-4 to lift the Lions to victory.

JACKSON HILL's victory at #3 singles clinched the win for the Lions as he took down Logan Hull.
Standout Performances
--Hill's victory is his third straight in singles play and comes after taking USA South Rookie of the Week.
