Third Quarter Surge from Wildcats Hands Lions 16-10 Loss at Home

Demorest, GA - After an even first half, the Piedmont College men's lacrosse team dropped a close call at home after an explosive third quarter from Johnson & Wales 16-10.

The Wildcats set the pace of the contest early scoring after 58 seconds in their first offensive possession. After going down 0-2 against JWU, the Lions powered ahead with three in a row to close out the quarter 3-2 in favor of PC. 

Johnson & Wales opened up the second in similar fashion netting three in a row with less than five minutes until the halftime break. Once again, the Lions battled back as JEREMY KOHN notched two man-up goals from back-to-back penalties by the Wildcats.

In a tale of two halves, the Wildcats came out firing in the third quarter scoring six straight with five different scorers while Piedmont's Kohn hit one in the last two minutes of the quarter as the Lions trailed 11-6 heading into the final quarter.

The final surge for Piedmont came courtesy of LAMONT NESBITT as he led the Lions from the face off x and set up a fast break goal by BRITT KENNEDY in the opening eight seconds of the fourth. The Lions would score three more in the final quarter but the Wildcats did not let up taking the contest 16-10. 
  
Turning Point
--The Wildcats scored six goals in the third quarter including three in the first three minutes of the period to take control of the contest.

Standout Performances
--LAMONT NESBITT held down the face off x for Piedmont winning 17-of-30 for the Lions.

Inside the Box Score
--PRESTON QUARLES and BRITT KENNEDY have connected with each other for multiple point games in three of the five contests this season.

News & Notes
--The Wildcats had four multi-goal scorers in the contest with five different players accounting for the six goals scored to open the third period.

Up Next
--The Lions continue their home stretch on Sunday taking on Wabash College at 1:00 p.m. at Walker Athletic Complex.
