Lady Lions Roll to Victory in USA South Opener 15-3 Against Ferrum

Ferrum, VA - The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team opened USA South conference action Saturday picking up a decisive 15-3 victory over Ferrum College. It was a complete team effort that led the Lady Lions to victory as eight players scored in the contest including six scoring multiple goals. 

It was all Lady Lions in the first half as they took an 11-0 lead into the break with BLAKE FORREST earning the win playing the first half and recording one save. MATTIE KEATON gained more experience in the cage playing the second half following Forrest. 

KAYLA JONES got the scoring started with a goal off an assist from ROWAN BUMPASS just over two minutes into the contest as Jones would add two more to score three on the day. This marks the fifth contest this year that Jones has had three or more goals. 

Five individuals tallied two goals each for PC as FRANCESCA MALABAD, DOMONIQUE STEELE, ROWAN BUMPASS, JENNA SMITH and CAITLIN O'BRIEN all picked up a pair of goals while CASSIDY HEFLIN and JESSICA BERGIN added one each. 

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions took a commanding 6-0 lead over the first 15 minutes of play to establish control in the contest. 

Standout Performances
--KAYLA JONES led the Lady Lion offense with three goals and three assists while also adding three ground balls.
--CASSIDY HEFLIN had four assists leading Piedmont and also marking a career-high in assists and points per game as she had five points in the contest. 

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont out-shot the Panthers 31-5 in the contest with a 22-1 advantage in the first half. 

News & Notes
--Of Piedmont's 31 shots in the contest, 28 were on goal.
