Atlanta, GA - The Piedmont College track and field teams traveled to Atlanta to take part in the Emory Invitational Friday and Saturday with
KYLE RAY winning his second competition of the outdoor season in the men's pole vault. Ray cleared 4.27m to win the event edging out 16 other athletes for the top spot.
Ray was the lone points scorer on the men's side while
JULIA GRAHAM was the lone points scorer for the women as she finished fourth overall in the women's 400m hurdles on Friday. Graham set the school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.32 as well as breaking the record for the 400m dash running a 1:00.79. Graham is currently fifth in the nation in Division III in the 400m hurdles with her mark Friday.
Analee Bradach nearly had a school record last week in the women's 1500m running a 5:16.67, coming just five hundredths of a second off the school record time set by
REESE BOWLES last season, but this week she claimed the record. Bradach ran a 5:16.43, 24 hundredths of a second faster than last week with that performance coming after a new personal best in the 5,000m.
For the men,
BRYCE GRIGGS claimed another school record as he set the record in the men's 5,000m running a 16:15.30. Griggs now has the outdoor 1500m and 5,000m records.
The men's 4x400m relay team also broke their own record running a 3:26.08 to come in 11th overall out of 29 teams.
Ray is currently still ranked first in the nation in Division III in the pole vault after setting a personal best clearing 4.63m at the outdoor opener at Berry.
ALVIN JACOBS is 20th in Division III in the men's 800m and the men's 4x400m relay team is now 16th in the country after this weekend's time.
Standout Performances
--
KYLE RAY won the men's pole vault as Piedmont's only points scorer on the men's side marking the second time in three outdoor meets this season that Ray has won the event.

--In total, five school records were set at the meet.
News & Notes
--Piedmont finished ahead of five other scoring teams on the women's side including Covenant College.
--On the men's side, the Lions finished ahead of 16 scoring teams including Sewanee, Covenant, Oglethorpe, Berry and Reinhardt.
