Lions Compete at Tiger Orange & Blue Classic at Savannah State

Location: Savannah, Georgia - Savannah State University 

Savannah, GA - After a few days spent in the sun during Spring Break, the Piedmont College track and field teams competed at the Tiger Orange & Blue Classic at Savannah State Saturday. Nine school records were set including ALVIN JACOBS setting the men's 800m record winning the event running a 1:57.12.

BRYCE GRIGGS also competed in the men's 800m and set the school record in the 1500m with a 4:09.77, edging out his own time from the outdoor opener at Berry of 4:10.41. ESTEBAN SALAZAR set the men's 100m record with a time of 11.58 coming in seventh overall while KILLIAN MCCLAIN set a pair of records in the hammer throw (29.96m) and javelin (30.62m).

For the women, ANALEE BRADACH set the school record in the 800m coming in fourth overall with a 2:31.96, cutting nearly a full second off her time at Berry a week ago. Bradach nearly had a second record in the women's 1500m running a 5:16.67, just five hundredths of a second off the school record time set by REESE BOWLES last season. 

Alex Leonardis set the women's 100m record coming in sixth with a 12.97 and BROOKE HARDEGREE had the record in the women's long jump with a 4.70m mark. The women's 4x100m record was also set with Leonardis, Hardegree, MEGAN BEATY and JULIA GRAHAM on the relay. 

Standout Performances
--ALVIN JACOBS set the school record in the men's 800m running a 1:57.12 winning the event, edging out one of Savannah State's own athletes by 37 hundredths of a second for the victory. 

Inside the Results
--In total, nine school records fell at the Tiger Orange & Blue Classic. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont had five women finish in the top five in events while seven men finished in the top five overall. 

Up Next
The Lions head to the Emory Invitational on March 17-18 in Atlanta, Georgia for the first of two meets at Emory University.
