Atlanta, GA - The Piedmont College baseball team was shutout Saturday by #1 Emory University 5-0 in the second game of a three-game series. The loss forces the deciding rubber match Sunday after the Lions toppled the Eagles 7-5 Friday in Demorest.
The Eagles never scored more than one run in an inning but the Lions were unable to string together more than two hits in any inning. Emory's pitching staff struck out 15 batters as the two teams combined for 22 strikeouts in the contest.
A leadoff single for the Eagles would later prove to be the game winning run as NJ Kim singled and later scored on a Brian Hernandez single up the middle. In the second inning, all six outs were strikeouts as Piedmont's starter
RILEY PRESNELL fanned five batters in a row through the second and third innings.
The Eagles scored again in the fourth after a leadoff double by Brian Hernandez making it 2-0 as Emory would score a single run in each the fifth, sixth and eighth innings.
ZACH LANGLEY was 3-for-4 for the Lions accounting for three of the seven hits in the game for PC while Emory's Brian Hernandez was 4-for-4 and was a triple away from the cycle.
Turning Point
--The Eagles broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the first plating a run on two hits as it would prove to be the game winner.
Standout Performances
--Billy Dimlow earned the win for the Eagles as he is now 3-0 after pitching seven innings giving up six hits and striking out 11 batters.
Inside the Box Score
--Emory has scored five runs in both contests against PC this season.

--The Emory pitching staff combined for 15 strikeouts in the game.
