JEREMY KOHN and
JOSH COBBINA, the Piedmont College men's lacrosse team stormed past Oglethorpe 22-4 Sunday. The Lions had a total of 76 shots in the contest, the most ever taken by the team in program history with 44 shots on goal.
Piedmont was out in front early thanks to Kohn's first goal of the evening but the Lions only led 3-0 following the first 15 minutes. The Lions would stretch the lead to 6-0 as Kohn,
BRADY JENKS and
CHRIS HADLOW all had two goals to that point.
The Stormy Petrels got on the board twice in the second quarter cutting PC's lead to 8-2 at the break after
PRESTON QUARLES scored with less than a minute remaining until the half. Quarles would be the first to find the back of the net after halftime as well increasing PC's lead to 9-2.
The Lions came out of the break in the third with 25 shots to the Stormy Petrels' three in the quarter outscoring Oglethorpe 6-1 in the period, only to increase that to 8-1 in the fourth. Piedmont scored 11 straight through the final three minutes of the third quarter into the fourth including scoring twice in the final eight seconds of the third period.
CHRIS HADLOW scored with eight seconds to play in the third followed by Cobbina tacking on one five seconds later making quick work with just three seconds to play in the quarter. Momentum continued to roll in Piedmont's favor as Cobbina would twice more score just seconds off another goal scoring four seconds after Quarles and 11 seconds after Kohn during the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.
Turning Point
--A six goal lead built over the first 21 minutes of the contest gave PC the lead needed to secure the victory.
Standout Performances
--
JEREMY KOHN and
JOSH COBBINA led the Lions' scorers with five goals each as Kohn became the leading scorer of the season with 14 goals in 2017.
Inside the Box Score
--The Lions recorded 76 shots in the game, a new program record, while scoring 22 goals, tying the second-highest number in program history.

ZACH CZULADA earned the win while three goalies saw time for PC as Czulada recorded 10 saves.
